Welcome to Soderstrom Elementary School!

Soderstrom Elementary School is located in the heart of the Smoky Valley in Lindsborg, Kansas. We are a traditional elementary school serving approximately 317 students in Pre-K through 4th grade. With three classrooms at each grade level and class sizes typically ranging from 17–21 students, we are proud to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to succeed.

Our caring staff is committed to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Students have regular opportunities to learn and grow through music, physical education, and art throughout the week. We also have a school counselor who supports students through individual connections, morning and lunchtime activities, and regularly scheduled classroom lessons. We love sharing the exciting things happening at Soderstrom, and our staff uses social media to celebrate student learning, achievements, and everyday moments that make our school special.

What Makes Soderstrom Unique?

A Strong School-Community Partnership: We are fortunate to have a wonderful relationship with our local community. Art galleries throughout Lindsborg partner with us to provide art lessons for our third- and fourth-grade students, connecting classroom learning with the rich artistic culture of our town.
Celebrating Our Swedish Heritage: Lindsborg's Swedish heritage is an important part of our community. Our students participate in Hyllningsfest, a beloved local festival, and our fourth graders take part in the annual St. Lucia Christmas celebration, helping preserve the traditions that make our community unique.
Music Opportunities for All: In addition to regular music classes, our fourth-grade students have the opportunity to participate in orchestra, giving them a chance to explore their musical talents and develop new skills.
Building Meaningful Connections: Our second-grade students partner with a local retirement home to read books to residents. This special opportunity encourages a love of reading while helping students develop compassion, confidence, and meaningful connections across generations.
